10 X-Men Characters The Movies Totally Wasted

6. Angel

One of the original X-Men dating back to the team's first appearance in 1963, Angel has a long and storied history in the comic books. However, when it came time to bring the character into the movie series Warren Worthington was rewarded with a brief handful of scenes, a meager amount of screentime and a character whose motivations can essentially be summed up by the words 'daddy issues'. After a brief-yet-effective flashback that introduces the character, Angel turns out to be the catalyst for the mutant cure MacGuffin that powers the story but rejects the treatment and escapes by flying out of the window. He disappears for a while, turns up seeking refuge at the Xavier mansion, disappears again, turns up to save his father from certain death and... that's pretty much it. Underwritten, under-utilized and a complete waste of the hugely talented Ben Foster, Angel suffers from the writers cramming as many mutants into the movie as possible and as a result ends up as little more than an afterthought.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
