10 X-Men Characters Who Look Nothing Like The Movies

7. Dark Phoenix - X-Men: The Last Stand

Despite not wearing the costume traditionally worn by Marvel Girl, aka, Jean Grey, Famke Janssen played the character perfectly when she debuted her in 2000's X-Men. Sure, she didn't have the iconic look, but she managed to work in every other aspect of the character, and fans swooned.

That was fine for the first film, but fast-forward to the third, and things changed. Jean Grey was no longer the same character, and instead, she was the Dark Phoenix. Well, she was more of a knock-off version of the character, as there were few similarities between her appearance in X-Men: The Last Stand and how she looked in the comics.

In the comics, the Dark Phoenix typically wore a red and yellow costume, which was different from her yellow and green suit she usually wore. She also had a phoenix emblazoned on her chest and was often floating in the air surrounded by fire.

Janssen wasn't really sporting that look, though she did wear red. When she hopped over to the Phoenix side of things in the movie, she had her eyes darkened alongside a costume change, but that was about it. She played her with a furious intensity, but the visuals fans were looking for weren't present in the film.
