10 X-Men Movie Concept Designs Better Than What We Got

There were a lot of things wrong with Brett Ratner's X-Men: The Last Stand and many of them would have been difficult to fix given the movie's troubled production, but it looks like they almost got Phoenix-possessed Jean Grey right.

The threequel incurred fan wrath for the way it depicted the telepathic mutant after she had become one with the all-powerful cosmic entity, the chief criticism being the lack of fire emanating from Famke Jansen's character.

Those naysayers would have had less ammunition to fire had Ratner and his team selected this concept sketch, which shows Grey's features engulfed in flames.

The Last Stand extinguished those flames, instead opting to have the possessed mutant surrounded by a swirling hurricane brought on by her psychic powers. Her red dress and locks flowed in the gale to resemble fire, but it just wasn't the same.
