10 X-Men Movie Concept Designs Better Than What We Got

X-Men: First Class had a school drop-out early in development. The Brazilian mutant Roberto 'Sunspot' Da Costa's solar-channelling powers were dubbed too expensive to shoot, so he was written out of the script.

Prototype sketches by Josh Kao reveal how the fire-tossing hero would have looked in the prequel trilogy opener, and the answer is more convincing than the version which appeared in the final cut of Days of Future Past.

Adan Canto played the character in the follow-up, and he became a mess of bad CGI when in full human torch mode. Kao's version is more understated, a mixture of shadow and flame, and the glowing eyes are a nice touch.

If the CG effects in Days of Future Past were really the best they could do, they should have taken their cues from the concept and have him partially obscured by shade.
