10 X-Men Stories You'll Never Seen On Film

5. Deadly Genesis

Whilst it's become clear that the movies aren't afraid of a good retcon €“ Days Of Future Past was essentially just ninety minutes spent undoing the events of every X-Men film that preceded it, usually for good reason €“ Deadly Gensis might just be a step too far for the movies. Especially given the light it throws upon Charles Xavier. It's also reliant on the comic books specifically, riffing on the events of Giant Size X-Men #1 €“ the book that introduced the classic team of Cyclops, Storm, Wolverine and Colossus, and saved the team from being cancelled. The new team were sent to rescue Cyclops from a living island. It was weird. Anyway, Deadly Genesis reveals Xavier sent Cyclops with a crew of other new mutants, who all died. He then wiped any memory of that first team from Cyclops's mind. Pretty messed up, Chuck. Especially when one of those was Scott's long-lost third brother. A silly story that totally wouldn't work €“ although an edge of darkness to Patrick Stewart's character wouldn't go amiss.
