In the number two slot, we have the villain who was actually responsible for the formation of the X-Men in the first place. While the Shadow King did not appear in the comics until sixteen years after the teams debut, it was an early encounter he had with Professor Xavier that inspired the powerful psychic to assemble the X-Men years later, in order to protect the world from evil mutants like the Shadow King. Initially, the Shadow King was thought to be a mutant who enslaved the mortal body of psychic Amahl Farouk, but it has since been revealed that he is an immortal entity who possesses the bodies of powerful telepaths and uses their abilities to control others. As the Shadow King usually resides in the psychic realm known as the astral plane, only telepaths or particular magical weapons can hurt him. Strangely, a side effect of his possession ability is that the Shadow King's long term telepathic hosts usually become morbidly obese and who doesn't want to see a fat Storm or Wolverine...? The Shadow King has played a huge part in the X-Men mythos over the years and he's certainly due an appearance on the big screen. Xavier's initial encounter with the Shadow King could be explored through flashbacks that feature the X-Men: First Class cast and such a story line would finally give Xavier the cinematic story line he deserves after the appalling way he was treated in X-Men: The Last Stand. Featuring the Shadow King and his possession abilities in the movies could also provide the screen writers with a legitimate reason to make the X-Men fight one another, which of course, is every fan boys dream.
