10 X-Men Villains Who Should Appear In The Movies

1. Mr Sinister

Mr Sinister has a complicated history in the comics, but as a key player behind some of the most devastating events in the history of the X-Men, our number one villain is more than worthy of the top spot. In the 19th century, scientist Nathaniel Essex made a deal with Apocalypse, who genetically altered him at the molecular level, transforming him into one of the most powerful humans on the planet. As the immortal Mr Sinister, Essex has a variety of abilities at his disposal, including telepathy, telekinesis and energy projection. The most impressive power of all though is Mr Sinister's ability to control his body at the cellular level, which enables him to shape shift and regenerate fully from almost any injury. On top of all that, Mr Sinister is also a scientific genius, who uses his vast knowledge of genetics to clone, enhance and control mutant abilities. Basically, he could potentially kick the X-Men's asses without even batting an eyelid. Obvious links with Apocalypse mean that there is a strong chance Mr Sinister may appear in the upcoming sequel following X-Men: Day of Future Past. What's great about this is that there is huge scope in using Mr Sinister as either a key antagonist or as a shadowy figure pulling strings behind the scenes. There are also plenty of comic book story lines that could be drawn upon for his eventual cinematic appearance, including the Mutant Massacre event that led to Angel's wings being amputated. Sinister's obsession with the potential offspring of Cyclops and Jean Grey could also be fascinating to watch unfold, assuming that these characters don't stay dead of course. Anything goes in the comic book world... Of all the X-Men villains on this list, Mr Sinister is the only one who has actually appeared in one of the movies already, but only fleetingly. In X2, the name Nathaniel Essex appears on Lady Deathstrike's computer while Mystique is looking through her files. Marvel films are known to include easter eggs that give a knowing wink to the comic book fans and often, these actually give hints to future events within their cinematic universe, so the likelihood of Mr Sinister appearing in the X-Men movies is higher than most, though that may be clutching at straws. With a history of over 50 years, some favorites may be left out, so please remember to let me know what you think of these choices in the comment section below!
