3. Sean Maher is Otacon
I can tell that so many of you are thinking, "Who?", and don't worry, you're probably not expected to know who Sean Maher is. However, the second I saw an episode of Joss Whedon's
Firefly, and witnessed Maher's turn as the nervy, polite Dr. Simon Tam, I knew that he would be a ripe fit as the similarly anxious, socially inept Dr. Hal "Otacon" Emmerich in the MGS movie. While the striking resemblance to Otacon in just about every iteration from MGS1 to MGS4 is clear, it might take some convincing for the studios to bite on an actor who is relatively unknown to filmgoers at large. That said, his featuring as a peripheral character for the most part might make this easier for them to cope with, though I wouldn't be surprised if they went with a better-known actor of similar ilk such as Cillian Murphy, who would also be a fine choice.
