Should Amy Adams be cast opposite Bale, we won't have to worry about a lack of chemistry, given the two working together splendidly on the Best Picture-nominated sports drama
The Fighter. Though Adams might not strike as a knee-jerk choice for a role of physical demand given her somewhat waify frame, she has demonstrated in roles like The Fighter a spunky spirit that would suit the role of inexperienced but cocksure soldier Meryl like a glove. The role requires a challenging mix of vulnerability, beauty and toughness that Adams has perfected in various roles, and should be able to bring them together as the rookie around which so much context rests in the first video game. Whether she'd be interested in something like this, though, is anyone's guess.
