4. Anthony Hopkins is Colonel Campbell
A left-field choice perhaps given his age, but Anthony Hopkins would certainly bring the wisdom and gravitas needed - just look as far as his work in
Thor - for a role as important to get right as Colonel Roy Campbell. Bearing a strong physical resemblance to his MGS1 counterpart, though obviously a fair few years older, it might prove a risky bout of casting should the film become a successful franchise and require long passages of time over subsequent instalments. One slight hiccup is also Hopkins' relative difficulty at performing a strong American accent; Welsh normally gets mixed in with it, which might prove unpopular with fans, even if he would bring an unquestionable star quality and degree of class to affairs as he did with the aforementioned comic book film.
