Look, you don't build up a body that wins Mr. Universe and Mr. Olympia and NOT put those muscles to good use. He just can't escape that Austrian accent.
Perfectly cast as Conan the barbarian and the deadly Terminator, once Commando released, he never stopped playing John Matrix. American military, American police, American special agent...Austrian accent. Sean Connery never changed his accent, why should Schwarzenegger?
That being said, he's been playing the same action-hero role his whole life. Age isn't slowing him down either, having returned to the Terminator franchise and The Legend of Conan (hopefully!).
Outside of acting like the governor of California, the most that Arnie has stepped away from muscled action hero is his thoughtful turn as midwest farmer, and father of a teenager-turned-zombie in Maggie.
