11 Characters Who Might Be The MCU's First LGBT* Superhero
7. Iceman
Gay
Iceman received considerable screen time in the original X-Men trilogy, which in itself was a parable of gay discrimination in America. Though director Bryan Singer is hardly a shining example of the LGBT* community, the scene where Bobby Drake ‘comes out’ as a mutant to his parents is touching and measured.
The trilogy makes no reference to Iceman being gay, instead sticking him in a boring rivalry with Pyro and dull love triangle with Kitty Pryde and Rogue.
However, considering the character only came out as gay four years ago, it would have been impossible for the original X-Men trilogy to include it. Now that the truth is out in the open though, Iceman can return to the silver screen with a much more entertaining storyline ahead of him.
Though Marvel might want to avoid introducing X-Men who featured heavily for Fox straight away, Bobby Drake was forgettable enough that he could be added without much confusion.
His coming out story is one of the most interesting in fiction too; his younger self is brought to the future, has his mind read and comes out, with his adult self (who grew up in a different timeline) admitting he hid his sexuality his whole life.
