11 Characters Who Might Be The MCU's First LGBT* Superhero

5. Angela & Sera

Thor Ragnarok Valkyrie
Marvel Comics

Lesbian & Transgender

Angela is Thor’s other sister (after Hela, of course), and the big cosmic change up after Endgame could usher her in.

The stage is set for the Asgardians Of The Galaxy to step up alongside the original Guardians. Thor’s gag in his last Endgame scene may have just been poking fun at him taking over the crew, but it might also have been an Easter Egg about a different team soon to emerge.

The Asgardians are a fairly new comic, named after the Guardians themselves, and they’ve got a few queer characters in their ranks - more on the rest later.

One of those is Angela, who enters the Marvel canon (having previously been owned by Image) being literally pulled from Heaven, and has beaten both Drax and Thor in hand to hand combat; this angel backs a devil of a punch.

Interestingly, her girlfriend Sera is one of Marvel’s only transgender characters, so there could be a twofer if the pair are introduced.

Sera was confirmed as trans by creator Kieron Gillan, and if you ignore shapeshifters is Marvel’s first out trans character. She offers a massive step forward in comics and could be a giant leap on the big screen.
