11 Characters Who Might Be The MCU's First LGBT* Superhero

Unlike most characters here, there isn’t a lot of precedent in the comics for Danvers to be the MCU’s first LGBT* superhero, but that shouldn’t rule her out entirely.

Brie Larson’s character gave off some seriously queer vibes in her first outing, and that was before her power haircut in Endgame. Nothing concrete, but a lot of groundwork that suggests her queerness might have been planned at some stage in her development.

She apparently showed no interest in men during her life on Earth, having only one relationship worth rekindling; her ‘friendship’ with Maria Rambeau. The two women spent so much time together it’s like they raised Maria’s daughter Monica together, and neither of them is ever shown to have had a boyfriend.

There’s the issue with time jumps though; Maria will age normally while Carol doesn’t appear a day older in Endgame. That wouldn’t change their sexuality, but it might make it harder to work a romance into the narrative.

Speaking cynically too, there’s little chance of a boycott or backlash affecting Captain Marvel. Anyone who would stay away because of an LGBT character would likely skip it anyway after Larson suggested A Wrinkle In Time wasn’t made for old white men.
