DC were content to just sit back and let Marvel Studios bet the farm on their cinematic universe gamble; probably time they could have used to plan their own approach if it worked out. But they waited and waited, and by the time they figured out it was a good idea Marvel had completely left them in the dust. In order to make up for lost time theyre not introducing any new, innovative ideas to their approach; theyre doing exactly what Marvel did, only faster and sloppier. This includes that slamming about five movies worth of material into Batman V Superman, but also announcing a whole slate of future projects and doing the whole crossover thing that Marvel pioneered. This lack of originality could be their undoing; the Marvel approach only worked because they cared about what they were doing. DC is looking to be caring about how much money they can make, and how fast they can make it, something they really need to combat.
