11 Giant Mistakes The DCEU Has Already Made

7. Miscasting Key Members Of The Suicide Squad

Suicide Squad is positioning itself as the €œedgy€ film in the DC universe, as it has a bunch of villains teaming up to stop a group of other evil people. The film is directed by David Ayer, who€™s only ever directed bloody action flicks and is said to be a madman to work with, so it should be something different. The Dirty Dozen-style premise means it will rely heavily on the chemistry of the cast, but as key members of the group feel miscast that might be an issue. Charisma black hole Jai Courtney is playing Captain Boomerang, seemingly just because he€™s Australian. Hollywood appears to be desperate to make Courtney a thing, but the audience keeps saying no. They should take the hint by now. Elsewhere Will Smith will be playing Deadshot, who will presumably be the leading character since he€™s Will Smith. Smith€™s ego will see him try to dominate the screen as much as he possibly can, which will be distracting in an ensemble film. The jury is still out over Jared Leto, though it sounds like his method acting made him a nightmare to work with (like director like star). Finally there€™s Joel Kinnaman, who replaced the great Tom Hardy as Rick Flagg; an idea that could only be worse if he was replaced by Jai Courtney.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
