11 Giant Plot-Holes You Didn’t Notice In 2017’s Biggest Movies
2. Emoji Deletion Isn't A Thing - The Emoji Movie
The central conflict, if you can even call it that, in The Emoji Movie revolves around Smiler (Maya Rudolph) plotting to have protagonist Gene (T.J. Miller) deleted from his owner Alex's (Jake T. Austin) phone.
However, all these shenanigans ultimately wreak havoc on Alex's phone, prompting him to take it to the phone shop in order to have it wiped and start anew.
This causes great panic among the emojis...totally ignoring the fact that a factory reset doesn't actually delete emojis in real life, and in fact, aside from hiding the emoji keyboard, there's no official, authorised way to fully delete emojis from phones.
It would've made more sense if the emojis were worried about being replaced by the new factory reset versions of themselves, but that's never even remotely indicated in the movie, and it's only focused on the fear of being deleted off the phone.
