11 Giant Plot-Holes You Didn’t Notice In 2017’s Biggest Movies

1. The Totally Implausible Firewall Protocols - Life

Life is one of those enjoyable yet extremely frustrating movies that has you second-guessing the plot at almost every turn, especially considering how many questionable decisions the apparently intelligent scientists make.

Nothing feels quite as implausible, however, as the rather inadequate contingency plan NASA devised in the event that the alien lifeform, Calvin, got out of control.

A "firewall" protocol is frequently mentioned throughout the film, that there are three means of containment to stop Calvin from getting to Earth: his original box, the lab, and finally, the spaceship itself, which NASA ultimately tries to push out into deep space when the other firewalls fail.

Considering that the entire human race could be obliterated by an alien lifeform coming to Earth, doesn't it seem a little risky to only have three firewalls in place, especially considering that they basically amount to nothing more than a box inside a bigger box inside an even bigger box?

Sci-fi fans have already giddily torn the film apart many times over, but the oddly piecemeal contingency plan for an alien invasion of Earth felt especially odd, particularly as in real life NASA has incredibly intricate, detailed plans for how to deal with an alien lifeform should it land on Earth.

Which movie plot holes from the past year agonised you the most? Shout them out in the comments!
