11 Marvel Cinematic Universe Films The Fans Would Love (That Will Never Happen)

2. Avengers Vs X-Men

Two of the biggest movie franchises that are currently ongoing - the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Fox's X-Men franchise - are home to two of the most popular superhero teams in comic books - the Avengers and the X-Men. In a 2012 comic book arc, these two usually harmonious and cooperative teams came to blows in a massive scale battle that had universal connotations. The main story occurs after Sam Alexander (Nova) crash lands on Earth and delivers a vague warning to the Avengers before lapsing into a coma. Iron Man deduces that the threat is the Phoenix Force and that it is returning to Earth and, at the X-Mansion, Wolverine tells Captain America that he believes the Phoenix is coming for Hope Summers. Captain America then travels to Utopia to ask Cyclops to hand Hope over to the Avengers so that they can place her into protective custody. Cyclops refuses, believing Hope to be the mutant messiah, and orders Captain America to leave. After a brief exchange, Captain America assembles the Avengers on Utopia and a battle ensues €“ starting with the Avengers storming Utopia after arriving on the S.H.I.E.L.D helicarrier €“ which then turns in to a global fight between the teams as they seek to find Hope, who has fled the scene (all while a team of Avengers attempt to stop the Phoenix in its tracks, to no avail, in space). Sadly, the studio crossover makes this impossible and, even if Marvel and Fox came to an agreement, getting the likes of Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, Magneto and Thing in to one film would be an issue in itself. Plus the fact that Spider-Man is with Sony - another studio entirely.
