11 Minor Changes That Stopped Famous Movies From Sucking

9. The First Draft Of Rocky Called For Mickey To Be A Horrific Racist

Rocky You know Mickey Goldmill as Rocky's loveable coach, mentor and father figure from the first three movies in the series. He dies a death that can only be described as "terribly sad" in the third movie at the ripe old age of 81, his last words being: "I love you, kid," which he lays upon a heartbroken Rocky. We love Mickey, of course, because he's a tough relic of the boxing scene - he doesn't take any sh*t, and has an attitude to boot. A real character, if ever there was one. Thank God Mickey's original personality was thrown out before the first Rocky movie got made, then, which called for the boxing coach to be an incredible racist. And by "incredible" I don't mean that he was great at it, I mean that he was really, really, really racist - it was his freakin' character trademark! Yep, in the first draft of the script, Mickey spends most of his time spewing slurs at anybody who isn't white (he says the N-word a lot), to the point where Rocky actually calls him out for being too racist. It becomes a bonafide issue and everything. A real relic of his time, huh?
