11 MORE Movies That Led To Other Movies Being Cancelled (And Why)
1. Fantastic Four Killed Josh Trank's Star Wars
Before anyone had a clue about just how terrible the finished product was going to be, Josh Trank's Fantastic Four reboot had already staked out a June 2017 release date for a sequel, which looking back turned out to be supremely misplaced confidence.
Not only did it sink at the box office and quickly establish a well-earned reputation as one of the worst comic book movies ever made, but the reports of Trank's abrasive and often bizarre behavior both on and off the set saw the man once labeled as Hollywood's newest directorial wunderkind essentially torpedo his entire career.
Over a year before Fantastic Four hit theaters, the Chronicle filmmaker was announced to be tackling a standalone Star Wars movie, but following the overwhelmingly negative reaction to his latest effort and the battering that both his personal and professional reputation had taken as a result, he became the latest in a long line of directors to be kicked out of a galaxy far, far away.
In recent interviews Trank is still sticking to the story that it was a personal decision, but given both the tales of his behind the scenes antics and Kathleen Kennedy's reputation for ruling Star Wars with an iron fist, it would be fair to say that not a lot of people are buying his version of events.
