11 Movies You Didn’t Know Were Connected

James Gunn didn’t appear to be the obvious choice to helm Guardians Of The Galaxy, since his first two efforts were quite dark and gory. He took to blockbuster filmmaking remarkably well, however, and even managed to inject his own personality into it.

He also paid respect to his first movie, the little-seen horror gem Slither. That movie revolved around a small town being infested by slimy alien slugs, who take people over by entering through their mouths. It’s funny and creepy in equal measure, and Gunn tied the movie into the MCU a little by giving the slugs a cameo in Guardians.

During the scene where the title characters meet Benicio Del Toro’s Collector, a few of the slugs can be seen in a display case in the background. They don’t play any kind of meaningful role, but it’s a nice reference.
