8. Wonder Woman

The Acclaim: Wonder Woman is one of the year's biggest critical surprises so far, deemed to have effectively single-handedly "saved" the DC Extended Universe with its lighter tone, fun period premise and cracking ensemble cast.

Why Everyone Will Hate It: It's important to remember that while Wonder Woman is a far better film than, say, Batman v Superman or Suicide Squad, it's also painfully safe and conventional to the point that it's been derisively compared to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's output.

The narrative bears a ton of similarities, in fact, to Captain America: The First Avenger, and like so many comic book films not called Logan, it goes wildly off the deep end in the third act with a messy, bloated CGI finale that most fans initially hand-waived because those first two acts were pretty effective.

However, removed from that initial relief, and especially a few years from now when several more DCEU movies will have probably tended towards the same lightweight, Marvel-esque formula, many fans will no doubt have their knives out for the one that started the trend.
