5. Simon Pegg - Elihas Starr
The man who many thought would be cast as the lead in long-time collaborator Edgar Wright's Ant-Man movie might not yet be completely out of the running for a place in the cast (even if it is further down the line than the first Ant-Man movie) as the film is yet to really cast a villain. There's a strong suggestion that the first Ant-Man will position Hank Pym as the antagonist, since Scott Lang will presumably steal his technology (if the film is set to follow the comic book narrative), and with the announcement that it will be a heist film there may not be room for a traditional villain as well. But if the first film achieves the right financial return, there will be scope to bring in some of Ant-Man's established foes, and Eggman would seem a reasonable suggestion since he fits the same mirroring bill as Baron Mordo. The gifted government research atomic scientist would suit Pegg, who has openly expressed his preference for playing the character, and though he has typically impressed in comical or leading roles, he has some form as a villain in Doctor Who, as well as committing some of his best work to screen when working with Edgar Wright.
Who It Definitely Shouldn't Be: Dan Ackroyd. Cone head or no cone head, the Ghostbusters star has gone horribly off the tracks.
