7. Adam Driver

It sort of goes without saying that it would be great to see a particularly interesting-looking actor tackle the Joker. That was definitely one of the most positive lessons from Jared Leto's tenure as the character (it's just a shame that he spoiled it with all of that HONKA HONKA nonsense).

Ideally, we'd get an actor who both looks arresting when combined with the Joker's seminal look (because no origin would work without the final evolution) and who is a legitimately great actor. Step forward Adam Driver, presumably soon to be free of his Star Wars commitments once Episode IX is in the can, and with his star firmly in the ascendancy.

He's a hugely gifted actor who has already proved with Kylo Ren that he can tackle imposing villains, and there's a sort of delicious otherworldliness about him that marks him out as a very good candidate.
