12 Awesome Recent Movies That Must Never Get Sequels

Jon Favreau's live-action adaptation of the beloved Disney animation is an incredible feat of visual effects engineering, an eye-popping, nostalgic spectacle which updates the original film with state-of-the-art CGI and arguably even improves upon it.

After the movie cracked over $900 million worldwide, it didn't take long for Disney to float the prospect of a sequel...even though this was a perfect standalone adventure that didn't remotely require a follow-up.

Can't Disney just leave this alone and focus their efforts on adapting other classic animations properly instead?

How Likely Is It?: Though it initially seemed like The Jungle Book 2 was going to get fast-tracked into production, Favreau's decision to direct the live-action The Lion King has resulted in it being indefinitely delayed, to the point that it could just never end up being made.

Also working against the sequel is the fact that Andy Serkis' own Jungle Book movie releases next year, which is surely going to leave audiences feeling a little over-exposed to the IP. If it happens, it probably won't be for quite a few years. 5/10
