12 Awful Films DCEU Actors Want You To Forget

1. Will Smith - Winter's Tale

Henry Cavill Hellraiser
Warner Bros.

The Men in Black starred has featured in his fair share of turkeys, but odds are you’ve never heard of this one—despite the fact that it was projected to be a blockbuster smash upon its 2014 release. It would be two more years before the Fresh Prince appeared as Deadshot in the DCEU’s Suicide squad, but that role was hardly enough to undo this misstep.

From the pen of I Am Legend scribe Akiva Goldsman—that’s a blaring warning signal you’re hearing there for Smith, the star of that woeful adaptation—this 2014 epic romantic fantasy features Smith as the Devil (yes, really) who makes a tricky deal with Colin Farrell’s gentleman thief in old-timey New York. Said gentleman thief has been raised by Russell Crowe’s gangster/ secret satanic demon, and fallen in love with a dying woman—are you still following?

If so, you’ve made it further than most audiences did when the film was released to rapturous “wah-womp” noises and financial catastrophe in… spring 2014?

A Winter’s Tale, released in February. Will really did need a hit after this.
