8. Baby Cart At The River Styx (1972)
The 2nd film in the Lone Wolf And Cub series, Baby Cart At The River Styx finds Ogami Itto (Tomisaburo Wakayama) hired by villagers to assassinate The Gods Of Death, 3 brothers whose get-up will look familiar to anyone whos seen Big Trouble In Little China. The Gods have been stealing from the villagers, so who better to take revenge than Itto, a former Shogunate Executioner? When we first met Itto, in Sword Of Vengeance, he was shown passionlessly carrying out his official duties, even when ordered to execute a child. Betrayed by the Yagyu clan, who murdered his wife, he escaped and survived on the road in rural Japan, offering his services as an assassin for 500 pieces of gold. With a price on his head, Itto now finds himself pursued by a group of female warriors so fierce they can defeat an Akashi ninja. Can one man, who wheels his young son in the eponymous baby cart, defeat an army and track down The Gods Of Death? Of course he can, and therell be much blood spilled before the credits roll.
