12 Badass MCU Plans That Should NEVER Have Been Scrapped
9. Hela In Thor: The Dark World
Villains have always been something Marvel Studios have struggled to get consistently right. Though phase three saw the introduction of many great antagonists, they weren’t quite enough to remove the bad taste left by the likes of Whiplash, Ronan the Accuser, and the worst villain in the entire saga, Malekith.
The Dark Elf was boring, and showed zero emotion, giving audiences no reason to care what he wanted or why he was doing what he was doing. His generic plan of plunging the universe into darkness was a huge factor in The Dark World being one of the worst MCU movies there is.
It could have been so much better, however. Just one Thor movie later came Hela, Thor's sister and a genuinely compelling villain, but there was a point when she was set to be introduced as the main villain in The Dark World instead of Malekith.
It’s hard to say if Hela would have been as compelling without Cate Blanchett and Taika Waititi, but one thing that just about everyone can agree on, is that she would have been better than Malekith. Literally anyone would have been.
