IMDb Rating: 7.3

13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers Of Benghazi was Michael Bay’s version of Black Hawk Down, and told the true story of a small group of soldiers under siege in Libya. It still had Bay’s trademark visuals and kinetic action, but he toned down his tendency towards juvenile humour and hyperactive editing.

Despite the theme of the film Bay doesn’t really go into the politics of the story, preferring to present a tribute to the soldiers who led the defence. Despite being a more mature film from the helmer it still received mediocre reviews, and it was the lowest grossing of Bay’s films to date. That said, it must have struck a chord with those who did see it because it earned a nice 7.3 rating.

That’s a long way from Transformers: Age Of Extinction’s 5.7, proving Bay is moving somewhat in the right direction critically; it’s doubtful The Last Knight will help that cause, though.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
