Grimsby is 2016’s second worst comedy – don’t worry, we’ll get to number one – and is a charmless, mean-spirited spy romp where writer/star Sacha Baron Cohen mistakes causing offence for crafting actual jokes.
It throws every offensive joke it can think of at the screen – including the gag inducing elephant sequence – yet none of it lands, and the more disgusting it gets the harder it is to sit through. The film was hated out of existence by critics and viewers alike, and was a box-office failure.
Despite this immense panning it somehow landed a respectable 6.2 on IMDb, which isn’t too shabby for one of the year’s true turkeys.
