Goodnight Mommy is an Austrian film that tells the twisted tale of the bond between two twins and the distrust of their mother. The distrust forms after she undergoes cosmetic surgery and returns home with her face hidden by bandages. The twins find it hard to trust anything she does and are hellbent on finding out if this woman is either a stranger or the woman who raised them.
Elias and Lucas Schwarz, who play the twins of the same name, do an incredible job building the tension and uncertainty as the movie progresses. Are they actually going crazy or are they really in the presence of a starnger? Between their performance and Susanne Wuest's as The Mother, you'll find yourself torn between believing the twins are losing it and that the mother may actually be an imposter.
It's hard to choose who to believe, and you'll be flipping and flopping as you're along for the ride until the truth is finally revealed at the end. Even in the end the choice on who to believe is fully up to the viewer.
