12 Biggest Box Office Flops Of 2017 (So Far)

6. Life

Ghost In The Shell

While the majority of flops this year have received a critical bashing as well as large scale embarrassment at the box office, Swedish director Daniel Espinosa’s latest flick Life was actually reasonably well received, scoring a not too shabby 68% on Rotten Tomatoes.

With an accomplished cast that includes crowd-pleasers Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds and the talents of Deadpool’s writing duo Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, it’s quite odd that the movie didn’t pull in more moviegoers especially considering its favourable reviews.

But money speaks louder than critical opinion unfortunately and as anyone with a basic knowledge of the weird and hush-hush world of Hollywood financing will tell you, Life’s $98.9 million in takings against its $58 million budget isn’t all that impressive.
