12 Biggest Genuine Shocks In MCU History

11. The Death Of The Illuminati

There can be no denying that for one reason or another, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was underwhelming. Generally, there are two reasons, the first being the ridiculously high expectations fans made for themselves, and the second is that almost every big reveal was ruined in the trailers.

Going in we knew that Doctor Strange would be brought in front of the Illuminati, and though not every member was confirmed, the fact that Mordo, Captain Carter, and Professor X had all already been spoiled, with heavy suggestions of a Variant Captain Marvel appearing, kind of took the shine off what could have been a mind-blowing scene.

Still, the inclusion of Reed Richards and Black Bolt was amazing, and though these kinds of cameos were very much expected going into the Doctor Strange sequel, what happened to the Illuminati at the hands of Wanda was not.

There couldn’t have been a fan watching not getting overexcited at the prospect of John Krasinski playing Mr. Fantastic in the MCU, but almost immediately he was turned to spaghetti. Captain Carter was sliced in half, Captain Marvel was crushed, Professor X had his neck snapped, and Black Bolt blew his own brains from within. Why bother introducing such a team only to kill them straight away?
