12 Controversial Horror Movies That Shocked The World
8. The Last House On The Left
Before the late Wes Craven gave the world horror classics like A Nightmare On Elm Street and Scream, he first made a name for himself with his first and most controversial horror film, The Last House On The Left. The film doesn't have much of a story beyond a group of murderous thugs who rape and murder a pair of teenage girls before getting their just desserts later. But what accentuated the film's gory and graphic content was its realistic look and everything just seemed that little bit more unsettling. Since the film was Craven's directorial debut and the budget was tiny, he filmed with a grainy hand-held 16 mm camera that added that filter of authenticity. Due to the film's sadistic and violent content, it was censored in many countries and was banned in the UK. In a response to all the controversy regarding the film's violence, Craven tried to defend himself by saying the film was a response to all the violence in the media, particularly the Vietnam War. With a film focused on rape and murder, Craven's excuses fell on deaf ears and did little to quell the controversy.
My life story is nothing special. I haven't cured ebola, I'm nowhere near stopping terrorism, and I'm still working on that climate change problem.
Instead, all I've done so far is put a few hundred words together in an attempt to make people laugh.
