2. Rubber Faced Actor Suddenly Hates Violence - Kick-Ass 2
Kick-Ass 2 failed in every place that the original had excelled and the box office reflected this worldwide. It is unlikely that his statements affected this in any way but almost a month before release possibly the biggest name in the film, Jim Carrey, came forward on Twitter to distance himself from the film because of its violent content; "I did Kickass a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence" he wrote. From this point on he withdrew his support for the film and refused to take part in any promotion for it, which some might suggest was more thanks to having actually seen the film than any moral reasoning. What is surprising is that the Twitter-led response to this was largely against Carrey. Despite his condemnation of it in the press he was happy to keep his hefty fee from the film. Ironically, his boycott brought far more interest to the film than if he had just taken part in the press junkets.
