12 Delayed 2021 Movies That Really Weren't Worth The Wait
3. Eternals
Things are not going well for the MCU right now. With the exception of Avengers: Endgame and Shang-Chi, every post-Infinity War MCU joint has been mediocre and forgettable. Eternals, which was delayed quite a bit by the pandemic, is the worst yet.
It's not quite as bad as franchise nadir Thor: The Dark World or 2010's rubbish Iron Man 2, but those are the only two MCU films that could justly be called worse than Eternals, which is, in pretty much every way, a maddening waste of potential.
There are some fascinating ideas in Eternals, the cast is great and director Chloe Zhao is a superb filmmaker, but very little of this potential is realized.
Zhao was completely unsuited to the material, while the story's interesting concepts and most of the actors aren't really given a chance to shine since the screenplay is so wooden. It's a boring, emotionless and empty affair with utterly dull action sequences, woeful villains and largely underdeveloped characters.
This was a huge disappointment, not to mention an unexpected one since it had seemed so promising prior to release. Deservedly, it became the first MCU instalment to get a rotten RT score.
