1. Hitler Was Killed By A Transformer-Watch - Transformers: The Last Knight
The Twist: When Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg) ends up visiting Sir Edmund Burton (Anthony Hopkins) to receive a colossal exposition dump, his love interest Viviane Wembly (Laura Haddock) takes a nose around and grabs hold of a clock housed within a glass case that's sporting a few suspicious bullet marks.
Burton promptly warns her to put the clock down as it begins to sprout robotic arms and legs. Burton then tells her, "That's the watch that killer Hitler. Don't screw with it."
Why It's Dumb: This is a Transformers movie, so of course it's dumb, and though previous Transformers movies have engaged with real-world history by inserting the Autobots and Decepticons into the space race, the fifth film made the wildly tone-deaf decision to suggest a Transformer actually killed Hitler.
On one hand it's outrageously tacky and tasteless, and on the other it's totally hilarious. Either way, it's so over-the-top and silly it verges on self-parody for the franchise. It's idiotic, but there's a good chance you smirked when Anthony Hopkins of all people revealed the historical revision.
