12 Dumbest Movie Plot Twists Of 2019

7. John Connor Dies In The First 5 Minutes - Terminator: Dark Fate

Terminator: Dark Fate left fans irate within its opening five minutes, as the film begins by retconning the fate of young John Connor (Edward Furlong), who is assassinated by a T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) several years after the events of Terminator 2.

The evident desire here was to minimise the series' focus on Connor, but when you're effectively clearing the path to replace Connor with a new gender-swapped version of him, Dani Ramos (Natalia Reyes), it's tough not to see it as an extremely cynical move.

For a film that promised it would be a "true" sequel to T2, it was insanely misguided to kill off the character fans of the franchise care about most, effectively nullifying the importance of T2 in the process.

Though for many fans, they're simply going to choose to disregard Dark Fate entirely, given that the film's atrocious box office performance ensures a direct sequel won't ever be produced.
