12 Iconic Movie Characters Who Aren't As Cool As You Remember

7. John Bender - The Breakfast Club

We all went to school with someone like Judd Nelson's John Bender (even his surname does him no favours), and the majority of us didn't like him. Chances are if you did like him, you were just like him - a bully who picks on everyone else's traits and failings without having the bravery to face up to his own, let alone stand up to his head teacher who finally gives him the chance to take a shot during a confidence shattering confrontation, highlighting just how much of a fake bad ass he really is. At the end of detention he might get a kiss from the prom queen, but we know, even with his celebratory punch of the air, that this is the high point of his life. Nothing else in his life is ever going to live up to the a day that he has just spent in detention. Imagine back to your school experience. Imagine back to one of your detentions. Now imagine that nothing else in your life is ever going to surpass that moment. Losing the will to live? I bet John Bender is. Plus, he dresses like a hobo.
