8. Marty McFly - Back To The Future Series

You'd think that - as kids - we should have all been asking why Marty McFly's best friend is an old man who looks like he's going to be caught up in the next Jimmy Saville enquiries at any minute, but no - we were all tricked into into believing that this kid was cool for some unexplained reason, but mainly because of the things the movie forces us to associate with him. Other than riding a skateboard (which Bart Simpson has already proven is overrated) he's really far from "cool," as he spends much of his time playing shooting arcade games and hanging out with a crazy old scientist. Also: he never knows when to quit, which at first seems like a good character trait, but over the course of three movies it gets him into an endless amount of hassle.
