12 Iconic Story-Lines DC Film Universe Must Adapt Next

10. Eyes Of The Gorgon

Chances are that the 2017 Wonder Woman film €“ starring Gal Gadot, who will make her first appearance in next year's Batman V Superman, and now being directed by Monster's Patty Jenkins €“ will take the recent run by Brian Azzarello and Cliff Chiang as its roadmap. Diana Prince is a character that DC have always struggled with, seeing constant tweaks to her powers, origin story, status quo, and connection to mythology. Azzarello and Chiang finally cemented Wonder Woman's place in the pantheon of the Greek gods, seeing her fight any number of beasties familiar to readers of The Illiad. But they weren't the first to do that, and certainly won't be the last. It resulted in some top-notch stories, but they never quite approached the Wonder Woman written by Greg Rucka. With art by Drew Johnson, the pair placed Diana firmly in the world of myth. Because she literally fights Medusa in it. Like, the lady with the snakes for hair that turns you to stone if you make eye contact. Not only is that a selling point, but the book does well to place the classic pantheon of gods in the 21st century (as business men and women), which suits the more grounded DCU Man Of Steel began.
