12 MCU Mistakes Thor: Ragnarok Must Avoid

7. Being "Fun" But Nothing More

A lot of fans despise the fact that pretty much every MCU film is described as "fun" as soon as it comes out, which some have interpreted to mean "an enjoyable but insubstantial movie you won't remember in a week".

It's the cinematic equivalent of eating McDonald's: you gorge yourself on its strong flavours, but it leaves no lasting impression and you're quickly hungry for more.

This is a valid descriptor for many of the solo MCU movies in particular, most recently Spider-Man: Homecoming, which was entertaining but had almost no visceral impact whatsoever and little to stick with audiences once the credits rolled.

Will It Be Avoided?: From what's been shown off so far, it does seem like Ragnarok is focusing on being a "fun" time above all else, so it's probably best not to expect too much in the way of substance here.

It's a winning formula that works, so regardless of what people complain about online, it's hard to imagine Marvel Studios changing things up while the box office receipts remain healthy.
