12 MCU Mistakes Thor: Ragnarok Must Avoid
6. Minimal Use Of Female Characters
Despite women accounting for 50% of the population, the superhero genre still has a problem giving females substantial roles, and it's telling that almost a decade into the MCU's existence, there still hasn't been a female-led superhero film. Hell, even DC got there first.
The overall point here is that the female characters in MCU films generally aren't important enough, with the major exceptions being Black Widow and Gamora.
Elsewhere women are shoved into terrible love interest roles (Jane Foster), or weirdly sidelined despite their clearly enormous potential (Sif). Given how these films are generally overflowing with testosterone, some more meaty roles for women would be warmly welcomed.
Will It Be Avoided?: There's definitely some potential here, with Blanchett's villain and Tessa Thompson playing Valkyrie, not to mention the possible appearance of Sif (most likely in a cameo, though).
If Waititi can't give at least one of these actresses one of the most memorable female roles in the MCU, then something's gone horribly wrong somewhere.
