12 MIA Marvel Cinematic Universe Characters Unlikely To Ever Return

6. The Abomination (Tim Roth)

Tim Blake Nelson’s transition into Leader was presumably a setup to a canned standalone Hulk sequel given that he didn’t engage in anything villainous. The antagonist role within The Incredible Hulk was instead taken by Tim Roth’s Emil Blonsky, otherwise known as the Abomination.

One of the criticisms that the MCU has frequently faced is the poor development of its villains. The likes of Malekith, Kaecilius and Yellowjacket have all been tremendous wastes of great acting talents and the Abomination wasn’t much better.

His absence from future films does stand out given his appearance in The Consultant, the first of five One-Shot short films that were included as special features on the DVD and Blu-Ray releases of Thor through Iron Man 3. In this, the World Security Council desired Blonsky’s inclusion within The Avengers, which S.H.I.E.L.D decided to sabotage.

There were plans at one stage to incorporate Abomination into Age of Ultron, though these didn’t come to fruition. Presumably he is still incarcerated in-universe, not even having been considered useable as an extra soldier in the fight against Thanos despite Tim Roth’s willingness to reprise his role.
