1. Time To Meet God - Sicario
Before appearing in sub-par Star Wars movies, Benicio del Toro starred in Denis Villeneuve's crime thriller Sicario as a lawyer who struggles to escape his past as a member of the infamous Medellin Cartel.
Sicario centres around the war on drugs in on the Mexican border, and the harsh realities of smuggling illegal contraband into the United States. An under-prepared FBI agent (Emily Blunt) is tasked with apprehending an instrumental figure in one of Mexico's most powerful cartels, and her mission is accompanied by Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) and Alejandro Gillick (Benicio del Toro), two agents who ooze confidence and experience on the job, though Alejandro is clearly hiding deep secrets.
Now dubbed the 'Time to Meet God' scene, the chilling exchange of words between Gillick and drug lord Alarcon is heightened by the realisation that Alarcon ordered the murder of Gillick's wife and daughter. Gillick confronts him at his home and swiftly executes his family without averting Alarcon's gaze.
The crickets singing in the background is interrupted by the sound of a silenced bullet entering Alarcon, signalling an end of Alejandro's restless retribution.
