12 Most Brutal Acts Of Revenge In Movies
2. Hooked - I Spit On Your Grave (2010)
Though a remake of the controversial 1978 film of the same name, 2010's I Spit on Your Grave doesn't do away with the horrific revenge scenes present in the original.
The film follows Jennifer (Sarah Butler) who retreats to the countryside from the mean streets of New York to work on writing her next book. After a few interactions with the locals, the true nature of the film is exposed, as Jennifer falls victim to a horrific crime at the hands of four men.
This begins her quest for vengeance, and Jennifer hunts down the perpetrators, offing each in spectacular fashion. In particular, Jennifer captures one of her abusers with a bear trap and, after taping his to a nearby tree, uses fish hooks to pin his eyelids open. Smearing her victim in fish guts entices the local crow population to congregate upon his location and baited by the fish guts, the birds peck his eyes out, leaving the victim for dead.
Other entries on this list use cinematography, sound effects or impressive theatrical performances to heighten the brutality in their revenge scenes, but I Spit on Your Grave's gruesome plot alone is certainly brutal enough.
