12 Most Horribly Disappointing Horror Movie Villain Reveals
3. The Visit
In M. Night Shyamalan's latest efforts to lead us on a promising narrative only to leave us wide-eyed from an (un)expected ending, he tells the story of two teenagers who visit their grandparents and while everything looks like the typical family friendly vacation at first, the old couple start behaving weirdly until the earth shattering twist at the end.
Besides the annoying and above all unrealistic aspect of having one of the kids film the entire story using a handheld camera, Blair Witch Project style, the twist doesn't hold any weight.
So we are meant to believe that their mother didn't find it necessary to show any pictures of what her parents actually look like? This seems widely implausible, especially since she went as far as to describe an antique clock in the living room.
If all she planned on doing was to dumping the kids, without the slightest intention of checking with her parents to make sure they're fine, then mission accomplished.
At the end of the day, the twist would have served a much deeper meaning if supernatural elements were at play. Afterall, there were some suggestions sprinkled around the film, i.e the jump scares but nothing became of that. Instead, what was given at the end was a dull, contrived, flat, reveal.
