12 Most Horribly Disappointing Horror Movie Villain Reveals
4. Hush
The premise of "Hush" is top notch to say the least. It's about a deaf and dumb woman residing in a secluded house that a masked man wants to break into and because of her disability, she can't call for help and is therefore completely at the mercy of her wannabe killer.
A suspenseful cat and mouse game ensues, just as one would expect from a home invasion thriller. But then a quarter into the film, the killer suddenly takes off his mask to reveal his true identity.
This reveal humanised the villain to a point where you could somewhat sympathise with the character, as he looks like the average Joe from around the corner.
Leaving the mask on would have made him more menacing, not only because it would hide his emotions but also there would be no identity that the viewers could associate with the killer.
As a result, he would be like an unstoppable force of nature, like Mike Myers from Halloween or Jason from Friday the 13th. But ultimately what we got was a disappointing reveal of a guy who looks like he could be Armie Hammer's evil twin - a human, stoppable and less menacing.
