12 Most Rewatchable Movie Sequels Of All Time

6. Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade

Look, we all know The Temple of Doom is a classic. It’s Spielberg, Lucas, and Ford together again—what could go wrong?

Well, maybe Short Round is a questionable stereotype in some scenes. And speaking of stereotypes, maybe Kate Capshaw was onto something when she called her shrieky damsel in distress little more than “a dumb blonde”. And as awesome as we all find the gore now, maybe Spielberg himself wasn’t wrong when he called the film “too dark”, particularly for a family adventure…

Luckily, the threequel arrived just in time to reaffirm everything that made us love Indy in the first place. Featuring both a young River Phoenix and a game Sean Connery as Jones Sr, the second sequel returned to the adventurous spirit of the first film without leaping headfirst into horror territory.

Featuring inspired chase sequences, a compelling plot, and a threatening and all-too-human threat in its villains, the film also centred Indy’s relationship with his dad, offering a more mature and fleshed out iteration of the character.

Now, as long as we never have to sit through a sequel where Indy discovers his own long-lost son, the franchise should be perfect. Right?
