Featuring both a young River Phoenix and a game Sean Connery as Jones Sr, the second sequel returned to the adventurous spirit of the first film without leaping headfirst into horror territory.

Featuring inspired chase sequences, a compelling plot, and a threatening and all-too-human threat in its villains, the film also centred Indy’s relationship with his dad, offering a more mature and fleshed out iteration of the character.

Now, as long as we never have to sit through a sequel where Indy discovers his own long-lost son, the franchise should be perfect. Right?
